TRIUMPHANT ENTRY (PALM SUNDAY)

Leader:            “Hosanna! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!”  Today we celebrate Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.

People:           Hosanna! Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

Leader:            Jesus humbly rode into Jerusalem on a donkey for the Feast of the Passover.  The crowd spread their cloaks on the road and others laid palms to prepare the way for His victorious coming.

People:           Rejoice! Rejoice! The King arrives!

Leader:            Five hundred years before Jesus, the prophet Zechariah told of the Messiah’s coming in humility and peace.

People:           Rejoice! Rejoice!  The triumphant King has come!

Leader:            On the journey to liberation from sin, we celebrate Christ’s victories, sorrowfully contemplate his sacrifice, and we revel in His resurrection, the ultimate victory.

People:           We remember the long road to freedom that our ancestors traveled, filled with triumphs, death, and new life.

Leader:            Ride on, King Jesus!  Ride on, Conquering King!

People:           Jesus came “to bring good news to the poor; to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind; and to let the oppressed go free.”

Leader:            With excitement and joy we welcome you into our lives.  With loud Hosannas we join you on your march toward liberation, justice, and love for all people.

All:                  Rejoice! Rejoice!  The triumphant King has come!

PRAISE CHORUSES

LORD I LIFT YOUR NAME ON HIGH

Lord I lift Your name on high

Lord I love to sing Your praises

I’m so glad You’re in my life

I’m so glad You came to save us

You came from heaven to earth to show the way

From the earth to the cross, my debt to pay

From the cross to the grave, from the grave to the sky

Lord I lift Your name on high

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
HOSANNA
Hosanna, I love you.
You are the joy of my heart.  You are the strength of my life.
Hosanna, You’re worthy,
worthy of all of the praise.  Your majesty rains.
Hosanna, You’re faithful.
You are always there to answer my prayers.
Hosanna, You’re holy.
We reverence your name.  My life you did change.
Vamp
Hosanna! (4x)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLESSED ASSURANCE

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
born of his Spirit, washed in his blood.

Refrain:
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect communion, perfect delight,
visions of rapture now burst on my sight.
Angels descending bring from above
echoes of mercy, whispers of love. [Refrain]

Perfect submission, all is at rest.
I in my Savior am happy and bless’d,
watching and waiting, looking above,
filled with his goodness, lost in his love. [Refrain]

  1. Our order of service will remain as it has been for the past 15 months.
  2. Online worship will continue as it has been during COVID.
  3. Seating for everyone will be on the main floor at your own discretion.
  4. We will have seating for those who want to sit by families or sit in their own socially distance bubble.  We will also have seating for those who wish to sit socially distant from others, and open seating.
  5. As you arrive, ushers will assist you in your seating preference.
  6. MASK are REQUIRED to be worn in the GFCC sanctuary and building during all church services.
  7. MASK EXCEPTIONS during church services are for Clergy in the Pulpit, Choir and Musicians in pulpit area and Speakers at the main floor Podium. (Mask can be removed and replaced, by said individuals, when appropriate).
  8. As you enter the Narthex, you will have an opportunity to pick up the following items before coming into the sanctuary.  Worship bulletin, extra mask, hand wipes, sanitizer and on First Sundays Communion elements.
  9. Also in the Narthex, there will be an offering stand for you to deposit your offering before entering or exiting the service.
  10. Restrooms are available.  We ask that you limit the number of persons in the space at a time.
  11. The exiting of the sanctuary after service will be coordinated by the ushers.  They will direct individuals row by row to avoid crowding during the exit process.  We ask that you exit the sanctuary immediately and not linger in the building.
  12. On Sunday mornings, the church will be open for in-person Adult Christian Education classes.  Classes are taught by Rev. Lackard and Minister Thompson, which will meet in the Fellowship Hall.  A mask must be worn and social distance practices are required.  On-line Sunday classes taught by Kathy Oliver Jones will continue to meet via Zoom.

We pray that the worship experience is enriching and that you will feel safe as we worship together!
